A drink made from roasted barley (or wheat/gram) flour, a complete food used commonly in summer.
Shaeer (barley flour) 100 g; Qand Safed (sugar) as per taste
Mix four to five teaspoons of Sattu in a full glass of water; add sugar to taste and use (ice cubes optional). Can also be kneaded with pure ghee and sugar syrup, but should be taken with plenty of water for proper digestion. Salt may be used instead of sugar for a salted version. Serving: 1-2 glasses.
A good substitute for a regular meal. In summer it is a good dietary supplement, especially for persons of hot temperament; quenches thirst, cleanses the stomach and acts as a laxative.
