Carrot pieces steam-cooked and preserved in sugar syrup.
Gazar (carrot) 1 kg; Qand Safed (sugar) 2 kg; Aab (water) quantity sufficient
Wash, peel and cut carrots into small pieces (2-5 cm) and steam-cook until soft, then dry. Boil sugar and water on medium flame to a thick syrup (Qiwam), add the steamed carrot pieces and correct the consistency. Preserve in a glass jar after cooling. Serving: 20-40 g.
Carrot is an excellent source of vitamin A, fibre, potassium, biotin and carotenoids, promoting general health. Good for the brain, lowers bad cholesterol and boosts heart health; clears chest congestion, improves voice and enhances skin complexion. Note: Diabetic patients should avoid due to sugar content.
